The project's objective is to collect and analyze the letters of both Confederate and Union soldiers. We scrutinized the content to explore the emotions of the soldiers expressed in those letters. These emotions include: bittersweet, happy, sad, angry, afraid, disgusted, hopeful, hopeless, triumphant, defiant, and defeated. These letters are evaluated to provide an answer to our research question: "how did emotions change overtime?". These letters illustrate the wide range of emotions felt on both sides.
